What is the difference between Flash memory and a hard drive?

what is the difference between the two? and do they use flash memory instead of hard drives in some computers and if not why? What is the difference between Flash memory and a hard drive?
Hard drives are electromechanical devices, flash memory cards are not. The fastest hard drive interface is sas, sata is the slowest. There are several performance levels to flash cards as well, different read/write speeds.

A hard drive stores data magnetically and has moving parts.

A flash drive does not, but is more expensive.
