What caused an electrical flash of blue light?

I was walking out of a room and saw like a flash of blue. I'm definitely planning to call an electrician, but just wondered what caused it. The room is only a few years old, it's a laundry room, has never given any problems, but I've noticed the house losing electrical power a few times in the past month, like the lights dimming momentarily, and a couple times it has turned off my computer.What caused an electrical flash of blue light?
If this never happened before, what made it start now?

It sounds like arcing. Something is not grounded properly. Or there may be moisture/water getting in with the wiring. Is it raining or snow melting every time it happens? This is very serious problem and you should think about shutting the power off until help arrives.What caused an electrical flash of blue light?
loose connections,you say the room is only a couple months old,its time to go back through the outlets,switches,and any other electrical connections in the room and re tighten the screws,i think that's where your problems are at,this is a common thing with new construction and add ons,and if this is a add on to an older building make sure there is not alum. wire connecting with copper,and if there is make double sure no lox has been used in the wire nuts
you probably have a grounding issue somewhere. one of the fixtures/appliances isnt grounded and it's arcing. lights dimming, things arcing, yeah, call a pro. maybe you can figure a way to back charge the previous owner, real estate person, builder, or home inspector, maybe.

When you did the wiring did you make sure the electric cables were on a wall away from the water, or where water could get to?


Sounds like something shorting out...
could have been static electricity


or a bulb blew out,


call an electrician or the power company and have the power checked out, could have been a temporary power loss
A really old, somewhat used light bulb going out. It happened to my once and thats what my electrician told me.
